Sanding
“Sanding” in the context of car detailing refers to a specific surface preparation process that involves the use of sandpaper or similar tools to remove thin layers of paint or imperfections from the surface of a vehicle. This procedure is often used before the process of repairing a surface, in order to remove defects such as deep scratches, stains, oxidation or irregularities on the paint.
The sanding process requires care and precision, as it is possible to further damage the paint if it is not done correctly.
It can be done with abrasive paper, coarse for the most obvious defects and finer to smooth the surface and create a uniform base for the next phase.
Alternatively, sanding can be carried out with abrasive products capable of eliminating deep scratches, imperfections and opacity from surfaces such as Rubbing Compound white or Rubbing Compound black specific for dark cars.
